Aftercare

How to extend your ceramic coating's lifespan?

While our ceramic-coated cars don't require special aftercare, following these guidelines will significantly prolong the coating's durability:

The First Ten Days

The infrared lamp curing significantly helps during the bonding period, but the real key to ceramic coating durability is minimizing physical and chemical exposure during the hardening phase. The most effective solution is keeping the car parked under cover when not in use during the first ten days after treatment. In summer, direct sunlight may shorten this period to just 3-4 days. Avoid parking under trees and ensure sprinkler water doesn't contact the vehicle during this time.

Regular Cleaning

Regular washing extends the coating's lifespan, though we strongly advise against washing more than once per week. It's important to avoid automatic brush car washes, foam brush self-service stations (using only the water jet is acceptable), as well as silicone squeegees and chamois leather. Be aware that frequent pressure washing may lead to mineral deposits on the surface, though these can be easily removed with the appropriate cleaning products.

Proper Cleaning Products

We recommend using appropriate ServFaces cleaning products for vehicle maintenance - please consult our colleagues about these. You should absolutely avoid cleaners with pH levels stronger than 13 (alkaline) or below 2 (acidic). ServFaces aftercare products can extend your coating's lifespan by up to a year when used properly.

Avoiding Polishing

Since ceramic coatings can be mechanically removed, polishing becomes unnecessary after application - the polishing process itself could actually strip away the protective layer. If any surface damage occurs, each affected panel can be individually repaired without requiring a full vehicle recoating.

Repainting After Coating Application

If your coated vehicle later suffers damage requiring repainting, the freshly painted surfaces will need to be polished by the painter. In such cases, please instruct the technician to carefully mask off adjacent panels to prevent accidental polishing of surrounding areas, as this would remove the ceramic coating from those surfaces as well.

By following this procedure, you can save significantly, as only the newly painted panel(s) will require recoating rather than the entire vehicle.
